12 Most Anxiety-Inducing Sci-Fi Movies EVER
11. Event Horizon
Between Resident Evil and Alien Vs Predator, it's understandable that many moviegoers might believe Paul W.S Anderson is about as skilled with horror as he is with adapting video games.
But hard as it may be to believe now, the director of the forthcoming Monster Hunter was once an accomplished conjurer of space-based terror, a fact epitomised by 1997's haunted spaceship chiller Event Horizon.
Following a taciturn Laurence Fishbourne and grieving Sam Neill aboard a vessel where something is very, very off, this flick messes with the viewer's nerves by playing up the isolation of deep space and the paranoia amongst a small crew before thumping you with the hardcore gore and disturbing imagery.
Not one for family movie night, then.
