12 Most Anxiety-Inducing Sci-Fi Movies EVER

5. Pandorum

Pandorum Ending
MGM

Another space set isolation horror, 2009's Pandorum sees the ever-underrated Ben Foster play another font of intensely nervy energy as the one of only two waking inhabitants on a massive space ship set to re-populate the human race upon arrival at the titular planet.

Nothing is quite as it seems, as is par for the course in paranoid sci fi horror films, and Foster gradually uncovers a disturbing truth which is so warped that there's no reason to ruin the surprise here.

Suffice it to say that after borrowing liberally from the likes of Alien and Event Horizon, Pandorum's horrors transpire to be entirely more human than expected, and the film is even more nerve-shredding for this (slightly) more realistic twist.
