12 Most Disappointing Movies From Summer 2016

6. The Secret Life Of Pets

X-Men Apocalypse
Universal Pictures

The Buzz: The latest movie from the Despicable Me guys, revolving around what animals get up to when humans aren't around, with Louis C.K. voicing the protagonist and Kevin Hart playing a demented bunny rabbit? Sign us up!

What We Got: Easily the most 5/10 movie of the summer, Pets may be an acceptable enough babysitting tool, but let's be honest: it had so much potential to be a witty, hilarious riff on animal-kind, and instead settled for being a surprisingly generic, visually OK animation you won't remember by year's end.

It's hard to not feel like they churned this one out while spitballing ideas for Despicable Me 3 or something. It's fine, but critics were unjustly kind to it (awarding it an undeserved 74% on Rotten Tomatoes), and it's ultimately a gigantic missed opportunity.
