The animated Godzilla trilogy has the most powerful and largest Godzilla by far. Godzilla Earth measures 1,000 metres, making him 20 times larger than his original counterpart. Due to his immense size, it's hard to imagine any kaiju capable of putting up a fight against this behemoth.

However, the third entry in the trilogy, Godzilla: The Planet Eater, introduces the mightiest incarnation of Ghidorah. The extra-dimensional dragon is hundreds of miles long, dwarfing Godzilla Earth. Not only that, Ghidorah has discarded his physical form and is now made of pure energy. Although he can incinerate and electrocute Godzilla Earth, Ghidorah cannot be physically harmed, rendering his rival's most devastating attacks useless.

The protagonist, Haruo, discovers the golden hydra can only be intangible if he is anchored by a physical host. When Haruo disrupts the host, an alien called Metphies, Godzilla Earth is finally able to attack his enemy. After weakening Ghidorah, Godzilla Earth vanquishes his foe with a monstrously-sized atomic blast. Although brainless action tends to be a prerequisite with Godzilla movies, it's always more interesting when Godzilla's rivals are defeated with strategy rather than mindless violence.
