12 Most Expensive Movie Props Ever Sold

8. Holly Golightly's Little Black Dress

Sold for: $792,165 Perhaps one of the most iconic pieces of clothing in Hollywood history, an example of the Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the opening scene of 1961's Breakfast At Tiffany's sold for a staggering sum in late 2006, far surpassing its estimate of just over $100,000. However, the dress sold was not the one worn in the film. The actual screen-used dress, created by costume designer Edith Head, was destroyed following the film's completion. The example sold at auction was one of the original pieces made by Givenchy, worn by Hepburn in promotional material for the film. Despite its questionable authenticity, it still stands as one of the most expensive pieces of costume ever sold at auction.
