6. James Bond's Lotus Esprit
Sold for: $997,000 The submersible Lotus Esprit driven by Roger Moore in 1977's The Spy Who Loved Me is another of those famous movie cars that is recognised and adored by moviegoers worldwide, but is sadly not actually capable of making the land to sea transformation (at least not without springing some significant leaks). However, that could all change, since it was purchased in 2013 by tech billionaire and Tesla founder Elon Musk. "What I'm going to do is upgrade it with a Tesla electric power train and try to make it transform for real," he stated after the auction. It isn't clear whether he was serious or not, but considering he had the audacity to dream up an 800mph public transport system, a convertible submarine car is certainly within the realms of reality.
