Frequent complaints about the MCU claim that Marvel Studios are too invested in the idea of giving so-called Marvel fanboys what they want to the detriment of creativity. This idea is, of course, absolute garbage and so too is the idea that a film-maker rewarding fans rather than perpetually seeking to challenge them is somehow not acceptable.

Yes, MCU movies are full of fan-service, but it's never as blatant as pandering or adapting full comics without any sort of invention or originality. They write their own stories, fill them with Easter Eggs and references and seek to give fans a good time - even when their material gets dark.

But which moment in the MCU deserves to be considered the best fan-pleasing moment of all?

12. The Iron Legion - Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 is a film about obsession, which sets up Tony Stark not being able to turn his back on being Iron Man - a thread that became increasingly important into Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War. We got a tangible realisation of that problematic obsession in the explosive finale of Shane Black's sequel when Stark called in the House Party Protocol and brought the Iron Legion to the fight.

Seeing two Iron Man armours was great up to that point (and fixed a lot of the clank and banter awfulness of War Machine and Stark's interactions in Iron Man 2), but seeing hundreds of variations fighting Aldrich Killian's Extremis goons was a step above. And best of all, it allowed the art designers to include some suits from the comics and some specialist ones (like the deep sea armour) that you could imagine Stark developing.

Chief among those suits was the precursor Hulkbuster suit that popped up briefly as an Easter Egg, beating its appearance in Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
