12 Most Fan-Pleasing MCU Movie Moments
11. Hasselhoff - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2
It is fair to say that Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 is a pretty overt exercise in fan-service and self-indulgence, but it does it in such a way that it came across as charming rather than conceited. James Gunn was handed the keys to be a lot more creative and he took to it with relish, adding more humour and far more weirdness than the first Guardians movie.
Top of the charts for the combination of those two added ingredients in the sequel was the brilliant seed-and-reap gag in which Peter Quill talks about Knight Rider when reminiscing about his father and Gamora wrongly calls the star Zardu Hasselfrau. That then pays off later in the film when David Hasselhoff himself appears as one of Ego's disguises when he's goading Peter before their show-down.
It's the kind of nostalgic silliness that makes Vol 2 so beautifully rewarding. And getting him on the soundtrack was a lovely touch as well.
