12 Most Fan-Pleasing MCU Movie Moments

1. Groot Dances - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2

As has already been established, James Gunn's reward for doing so well with the first Guardians was the chance to get a little more weird, a little more funny and a little more Gunn.

He knew, more than anyone, what the fans wanted from that series and he set about giving them more charm, more unrequited romance, more one-liners and more character moments building on what we'd already seen. It was like he'd just turned his characters up to 11 without compromising their appeal (in short, he avoided Minions syndrome).

Arguably the best moments of character escalation came with Baby Groot - easily the most marketable of all of the MCU's characters, because he's so damn cute. Later in the film we got to see him attempting to retrieve a fin for Yondu and returning to the Ravager prison cell with increasingly outrageous loot, but it was the opening scene that really got to fans.

In that strange musical number, watching Groot merrily dance around as his team-mates were almost smashed to pieces was both incredibly brave, incredibly self-indulgent and brilliantly funny.
