12 Most F*cked Up Movie Marketing Campaigns

4. Tarantino's Severed Arm - Death Proof

Moviegoers in Amsterdam were startled by a severed arm lying on the street outside a local cinema in 2007, but thankfully it wasn€™t the calling card of a new serial killer stalking the city and on closer inspection (if they dared to get close, that is) the arm was clutching a copy of Death Proof in a crafty, gruesome campaign designed to promote the DVD release of Quentin Tarantino€™s exploitation horror. It was a bit of risky move on the part of Dutch ad agency New Message, the brains behind the campaign, considering that bloody body parts popping up on the streets are usually accompanied by crime scene tape and police investigations but however dodgy, it was a nice little nod to Death Proof€™s own severed limb scene for fans of the film.
