12 Most Hopeless Sci-Fi Movie Endings
3. Cube (1997)
Imagine waking up in a giant-sized Rubik's cube with a bunch of strangers. Then imagine that the giant-sized Rubik's cube has a variety of colored rooms all filled with lethal booby traps and a zero chance of getting out.
The low-budget science-fiction thriller surprised audiences upon its release with many not really knowing what to expect. What they did get was a unique and exhilarating storyline that has never really been done before. Not successfully anyway.
By the end of the movie, the audience is desperate to know what the cube really is, why it's there and what is the point of the whole thing. Instead, we are left with one sole surviving human who walks off into a bight light with no explanation whatsoever.
It might sound annoying but in reality, isn't that just what life is all about? What is the point in anything? Why are we even here in the first place? Are we all just living in one person's giant computer game or is there more to it than that? Or maybe it is just better to let the mystery be rather than desperately trying to solve it. If that's the case then that's even more depressing.
