The Revelation: The DCEU's Caped Crusader doesn't give much of a damn about human life...if you're a bad guy. Batman smashes, shoots and blows up cars with the Batmobile, knocks grenades out of henchmen's hands, smashes a guy into a wall with a crate, and blows a guy up with his own flamethrower, killing about 20 people throughout the movie.

That's also without counting any criminals he brands with a bat symbol who are then resultingly shanked to death in prison.

Why It Was Surprising: For one, Batman has a no-kill rule that's been employed with various degrees of faithfulness throughout Batman's cinematic adventures.

Never have his kills been quite so blatantly brutal, though, and it's all the more weird because the film doesn't really make much of an effort to explain why he operates this way.

It seems that Batman has been pushed to the brink in his efforts to curb crime, but the film abjectly fails to convey this in a meaningful or convincing way.
