12 Most Underrated 2000s Sci-Fi Movies

9. The Sixth Day

The 6th Day
Sony Pictures

The early noughts weren’t too kind to old Arnie, with the once-massive star relegated to corny flops like Collateral Damage as his flicks began dying a death at the box office. Where the performance of the latter film was understandably affected by the events of September 11, The Sixth Day has no such obvious reason for its relative failure, and is a far more worthwhile watch to boot.

Razzie-nominated despite breaking even at the box office, this flick sees Arnie cloned without his knowledge and thrust into a world of shadowy clandestine conspiracies which go all the way to the top of the elite—if this sounds familiar, it’s because this Roger Spottiswoode-directed action thriller may not be as gonzo, gory, or satirically sharp as Total Recall, but nonetheless offers a similarly impressive, immersive vision of the not-too-far-future.
