Coming from the mind of Cube director Vincenzo Natali, most recently seen helming the Netflix adaptation of horror scribe Joe Hill’s mind-bending In the Tall Grass, 2002’s sci-fi Cypher is a trippy slice of high-octane sci-fi which constantly wrong foots unsuspecting viewers.

A strange mashup of the Matrix and the Manchurian Candidate, the film follows a mild-mannered accountant as he uncovers a vast conspiracy involving corporate espionage and all manner of double crosses—or does it?

Co-starring the always great Lucy Liu, this one will keep you guessing until its killer closing twist, and thus the flick is essential viewing for fans of conspiracy thriller sci-fi.
