12 Most Underrated Things In DCEU Movies

9. Michael Shannon's Zod - Man Of Steel

The first Zach Snyder entry in the DCEU was an early indication that all was not right in the decision making process at Warner Brothers HQ. The darker tone for a Superman movie always an uphill battle, especially when it infected our normally super optimistic and kind hearted Hero. One darker element that did work however was Michael Shannon's interpretation of Kal-El's Kryptonian nemesis, Zod.

Shannon had some big shoes to fill with Terence Stamp's pitch perfect performance in 1980's Superman 2, but the actor is very much up to the task. Shannon brings genuine venom to the role and proves to be as much of a psychological test to our hero than a physical one. He is still very much a physical threat, and his willingness to destroy the city landscape and the deaths of countless citizens that follows cemented his villainy.

It is the final battle with Kal-El though that really makes Zod work, an obvious glee present at his ability to turn Superman to the dark side. While the jury is very much out as to Superman's choice to break Zod's neck, the manner in which the villainous Kryptonian got the Man of Steel to this point was quality stuff.
