12 Movie Characters Who KNEW They Were In Movies

10. Bill Murray In Space Jam

Looney Tunes characters have a long tradition of talking to the camera, and breaking the fourth wall even further with the famous short 'Duck Amuck', in which Daffy Duck gets continuously tormented by an unseen animator. It's actually pretty good for something that's almost seventy years old. So when they moved to the big screen with Space Jam, of course they continued the tradition, with a couple of fourth wall breaks here and there. But the biggest is when Bill Murray shows up late on during the final match.

Firstly, he's playing himself throughout the movie, which seems an odd choice considering his demographic at the time was twenty-something men. How many nine-year-olds in 1996 had seen the R-rated 1980 movie Caddyshack?

Anyway, with ten seconds left on the clock, the Tunesquad are a man down after Wayne Knight's recent inflation and in need of a fifth player. Murray arrives, leading villain Swackhammer to announce 'I didn't know Dan Aykroyd was in this picture!' - a nod to Murray's work with Aykroyd in Ghostbusters.

Further, when Daffy Duck asks Murray how he got there, (considering Michael Jordan had to be brought to Looney Tunes world by the other characters) he offhandedly says the producer is a friend of his, which is true - Space Jam was produced by Ivan Reitman, director of both Ghostbusters movies. He then tells Daffy that he just had a teamster drop him off.

Daffy responds with a cynical look at the camera, declaring 'that's how it goes.'
