12 Movie Franchises You Didn't Realise Were Still Going
11. Sniper
The Films You Know: The original 1993 Sniper was a routine if relatively entertaining action flick starring Tom Berenger and Billy Zane. It didn't go over particularly well with critics but opened at the #2 box office spot, and was considered a commercial success. If you've ever surfed through TV channels late at night, there's a good chance you've come across the 2002 sequel, imaginatively titled Sniper 2, again starring Berenger but also being widely panned. The Films You Don't: Incredibly, it just kept going, with Sniper 3 in 2004, and then Sniper: Reloaded a while later in 2011, with both films still starring Berenger, who has struggled to secure much theatrical work as of late (though it was great to see him briefly in Inception). Apparently strapped for work, Zane was also lured back for Reloaded, which resulted in probably the best movie since the first, even if it was still mostly panned. There's no word yet on a fifth film, but given the gaps between the third and fourth, don't count it out just yet.
