5. Children Of The Corn
The Films You Know: Despite being a critical failure, 1984's adaptation of Stephen King's short story, Children of the Corn, was a tremendous financial success, earning over $14 million against an $800k budget, giving way to two theatrically-released sequels that...weren't great, to be kind. The Films You Don't: But the Children of the Corn series has lived on ever since. 1996's Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering saw the franchise go straight-to-video and feature a before-fame Naomi Watts, while Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror introduced audiences to Eva Mendes, and each subsequent film simply became less and less consequential. Despite the series appearing to die a death after 2001's Revelation, in 2009, a straight-to-video remake of the original film was released, before 2011's Children of the Corn: Genesis hit our shores. There's no word on a sequel yet, but if they've made it to 8 films, you can probably count on at least another...
