12 Movie Franchises That Need To Take A Break

More than 30 years after the classic original hit cinemas, the Hellraiser franchise is still plodding along...barely.

The tenth entry into the body horror series, Hellraiser: Judgment, went straight-to-video earlier this year, and like the last few sequels, was effectively just a low-budget means of ensuring Dimension Films retained the rights to the series.

Hellraiser's gnarly gore effects and iconic antagonist, Pinhead (Doug Bradley), should give filmmakers plenty of mileage to craft compelling sequels. After so many attempts and so little money being poured into recent sequels, though, it really feels like time for the series to take an extended break.

If the long-discussed plans for a big-budget Hellraiser reboot ever come to fruition, then things could get interesting. Otherwise, if it's just godawful, micro-budget sequels forever more, this thing needs to stop.
