12 Movie Idiots Who Basically Created Their Own Villains

5. Mr Incredible Can't Talk To Kids Properly - The Incredibles

The Incredibles Syndrome
Disney/Pixar

The Incredibles should stand as a morality tale of how to deal with adoring fans and children: though Mr Incredible is well-versed in dealing with the demands of being a superhero in the public sphere, he is ultimately almost killed because he can't deal with a young fan without shattering his dreams and making him feel inferior.

Even when the kid in the Spidery suit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stood up to Rhino, Spider-Man himself has the intelligence to praise his bravery and send him out of harm's way in a manner that made him feel valued, and probably turned him into a celebrity. But in stark contrast, Mr Incredible deals with the unwanted attention of Buddy, his wannabe side-kick by callously smashing his dreams into the ground, and encouraging a deep-seated hatred for all superheroes and a need for supreme validation that he seeks through villainous means.

All Mr Incredible had to do was manage the situation deftly, and Syndrome would never have been created, saving the lives of tens of Mr Incredible's former super-co-workers.
