12 Movie Moments Everyone Was Waiting For (That Never Happened)
6. For Some Kind Of Final Resolution - No Country For Old Men
No County For Old Men, arguably the Coen Brothers' finest film, tells the story of Llewellyn Moss, a welder who stumbles upon millions of dollars in case, and is subsequently hunted by a terrifying embodiment of evil named Anton Chigurh. The movie resembles something of a cat and mouse chase, with the pair dodging one another, getting into gunfights, but never actually coming face to face, whilst Tommy Lee Jones' character, Sheriff Ed Bell, tries to figure out what is happening. As the film approaches its 100th minute, then, movie-goers who hadn't read the Cormac McCarthy novel on which the movie was based presumably expected there to be some sort of final showdown between Moss and Chigurh on the cards. Nope: Moss checks in a hotel, we fade to black, and when the next scene begins, Sheriff Bell arrives at the motel to find that Moss has been killed by a group of Mexicans. Then there's 20 minutes of Bell pondering his place in the world, talking about his dad and some dreams, before the movie just ends.
