12 Movie Moments Everyone Was Waiting For (That Never Happened)

4. For Ray To Come Back To Life - The Princess And The Frog

It's not often that a comic relief character in a Disney movie gets killed with about 10 minutes to go (they usually die at the beginning, to create drama), which is why the death of hilarious, Cajun firefly Ray felt like something plucked out of a nightmare in the brilliant and underrated The Princess and the Frog. During the climax of the movie, as Tiana, a girl transformed into a frog, faces off against the evil Shadow Man, Dr. Facilier, Ray attempts to help out, only for the poor little chap to get squashed under Facilier's shoe. "Oh no," we said. "That's awful." Thing is, this isn't the sort of thing you'd expect from a Disney movie, so - naturally - it felt safe to assume that there'd be some line about magic or the power of love or some other bulls*it that movies like this can get away with, and Ray would come back to life. But no, the writers of this movie decided that it would be a good idea to leave Ray dead for good, and though it's implied he's happy in heaven with his one true love - a star - or whatever, most people were probably counting on the fact that he'd be resurrected before the credits rolled. NO.
