12 Movie Predictions For 2014

12. The Lego Movie Is 2014's Best-Reviewed Blockbuster

One of the year's most buzzed about movies hits cinemas in just a few days, and that's The Lego Movie, from the minds of Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the electic directing duo behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street. Everything we've seen so far from this movie suggests a smash hit in the making: it's adapted from a toy pretty much everyone had as a kid, has brilliant cross-promotion with DC superheroes such as Batman and Superman, and Morgan Freeman plays another God-like character. What's not to love? It seems to be another case of the duo taking their unique sense of humour and applying it to an old concept, resulting in what will probably be one of the year's cleverest, most subversive Hollywood hits. Expect strong reviews (90-95% on Rotten Tomatoes), and it'll probably do pretty well at the box office too. The modest $60 million budget no doubt helps.
