After a wait of over ten years, Star Wars fans were delighted when the seventh instalment in the film franchise hit our screens in the winter of 2015. The film starred Daisy Ridley and Rey Skywalker (deal with it) and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren/Ben Solo.

The two came face to face in a bold battle that saw one of the franchise's best lightsaber fights. In the scene, we also get our first glimpse at Rey being able to use the Jedi power of the Force by controlling a lightsaber stuck in the ground. Whilst she battles with her inner thoughts to connect with the force we are given a close up of our beaten-down hero as she climbs back up to fight her rival.

It turns out that this whole moving moment was never in the original film and was reshot under the suggestion of J.J. Abrams' close friend, Ava DuVernay.

“I showed an early cut to my friend Ava DuVernay, and she had a bunch of great suggestions. One of them was she really wanted to see Daisy, in her attack on Ren, have a one really cool moment. Boom! It’s a little thing but it really connects you to her intensity"
