12 Movie Sequels That Prove You Should Never Go Back

What It Billed As

A prequel in the same spirit as John Carpenter's iconic horror film.

What It Actually Was

An attempt at a carbon copy, which is a little like a pavement side artist attempting to pass off a new version of the Mona Lisa. Yes, it might be good in its own way but it will never be anywhere near as good as the original and will always look very, very poor by the very proximity it consciously seeks.

Less cynical folk may say it's best to judge it on its own merits, but it's impossible not to see the looming shadow of the original it so actively attempts to ape without adding enough to claim its own right to exist as a stand-alone. It's a Scrappy Doo, no matter how you look at it.
