12 Movie Spin-Offs You Didn't Know Were Coming

10. Snake-Eyes

GI Joe Snake Eyes
Paramount Pictures

Release: March 27th, 2020

Say what you want about the GI Joe movies, but they stumbled onto a formula that has landed with fans enough to make just enough money for Paramount to consider the brand an ongoing franchise. We already knew that the future was going to include another mainline release and a crossover with the Transformers movies (!!!), but not it seems there's another project to add to the pile.

Back in May 2018, the studio announced their intention to make a movie focused on Snake Eyes, arguably the single coolest of the individual characters in the series who had been played by Ray Park in the first two movies. It took until the end of that year for Robert Schwentke (who made two Divergent movies and RIPD) to be announced as director for the 2020 release and now Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding is in talks to replace Parks, presumably because he'd need to talk.

The spin-off prequel will apparently focus on Snake-Eyes avenging the death of his father. Expect John Wick vibes.
