If Nolan wants to stick with big-budget filmmaking but fancies trying something completely outside his remit, then a war movie might be the way to go. Just imagine a WW2 flick packed with Nolan's regulars such as Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christian Bale and so on. It's nothing if not a recipe for sure success. It would allow the director to harness his action chops in a completely different way, and though some argue that the war film is a pretty played-out genre these days, a filmmaker of Nolan's imagination could likely bring something new to the table audiences haven't seen before. How Likely Is It?: Again, not very. Nolan has never expressed much of a personal affinity for the genre, so this one would come way out of left-field, cool though it would undeniably be. 3/10.
