12 Movies You Probably Hated The First Time Round (But Loved The Second)
9. The Dark Knight Rises
The First Time: "I guess it was pretty cool, but The Joker is better than Bane, and about fifty plot points just make no sense. How was Batman able to bail out at the end? And why is he sitting in a very public restaurant in Florence when he's supposed to be dead? And is John Blake going to become Batman or Robin?" The Second Time: Any film that has as much hype as The Dark Knight Rises is almost certain to be a disappointment, and within hours of the first worldwide screenings, arguments were starting about every plot point minor and major, with the consensus being that it didn't manage to meet the highs of The Dark Knight. That said, watching it again with more realistic, grounded (some might say lowered) expectations, it's clear that The Dark Knight Rises is a fittingly brilliant conclusion to Christopher Nolan's astounding saga. It's not its predecessor, and in fact it's a different beast entirely, but superb Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking it certainly is, ambitious and breathtaking.
