In one of the most intriguing movies on this list, Jeremy Renner is to star in wunderkind director Dennis Villeneuve's (Sicario, Enemy, Prisoners) new sci-fi original, Story of Your Life. The film centres around the arrival of an alien race and the linguist expert (Amy Adams) who is assigned to determine whether they come in peace, or come in... war. Renner's role is as a physics professor paired with Adams to help solve the conundrum, as the aliens evidently just kind of sit there in their spaceships, waiting for these two to either get it on or figure it out. One thing's guaranteed - with Villeneuve at the helm, don't expect this to be a tired, cliché take on the mysterious alien invaders sub-genre.
