12 Movies & TV Shows You Didn't Know Were Remade On Broadway

An Adam Sandler movie may seem to be the most unlikely to be adapted into a musical, but that didn't stop execs from seeing an easy cash grab in 2006.

Adding songs to the stage adaptation with names like "Somebody Kill Me" and "Move That Thang" seemed to be just the trick to fill the seats of the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Audiences fell in love with the comedic rendition and the show was even nominated for Best Musical at the Tony Awards.

But while fans of the film were having fun, critics weren't so amused. The show was called "forced" and was accused of being created simply for the knowledge that it would attract tourists. And inevitably, the show was closed after less than 300 performances.
