3. Cable (Deadpool 2)
The Merc with the Mouth’s highly-anticipated return to the big screen saw him receive a truly epic beatdown from his new foe. Hailing from the future where fanny packs (sorry, satchels) are apparently hip again, Cable appears to be all kinds of bad news. Obsessed with slaying Deadpool’s new kid pal, Russell a.k.a Firefist, Cable proves to be the deadliest fighter the near invincible Wade Wilson has ever met.
After the unveiling of the Juggernaut, Cable offers to work with Wade and reveals his life story. For the first time in the film, we realise that beneath very different exteriors, Cable and Deadpool are similarly troubled figures haunted by the losses of their loved ones. Between fighting alongside the remnants of X-Force and even using what’s left of his time travel gear to reverse Wade’s death, Cable ends the film as a major protagonist.
A perfect deadpan counter to Deadpool’s comedic antics, the 2 are well on their way to being the popular duo from the comic books by the end of the film. Now if we could just get a Deadpool 3 to see how that turned out, that would be great.
