12 Movies Where The Villain Turns Good

4. Deckard Shaw (Fast And Furious 8)

The Grinch
Universal Pictures

The cold blooded killer behind Han’s death and the destruction of Dom’s beloved home in Furious 7 finds himself on a different path by part 8. Having spent some time in a top secret prison, Shaw’s eventual (rather implausible) escape sees him reluctantly teaming with his old foes to take down cyber terrorist Cypher.

Allowing a lighter hearted side of the once reprehensible Shaw to shine through, he gradually earns the respect of Hobbs and Toretto thanks to his skill and bravery. After saving Dom’s baby during a gutsy midair rescue mission, Shaw shakes hands with his former nemesis and joins them all for the obligatory end film barbeque.

Shaw’s action hero ways were further explored in last year’s Hobbs and Shaw spin-off film. Despite butting heads with Hobbs from their first scene to the last, Shaw is fully solidified as one of the good guys by the end. With Han returning for John Cena’s hostile takeover of the FF series later this year, it appears Shaw’s evil actions are gradually getting retconned out of existence too.

John Cunningham hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
