La La Land is poised to be a strong contender among those in the mood for a love story, as well as draw in the musical fans. This late-2016 release, which follows a budding relationship between a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress, looks to be a throwback to the Gene Kelly musical romances of old. And what could be better than having such a picture directed by Whiplash mastermind, Damien Chazelle?
Well, how about the fact that it also stars the two most likeable actors working today, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone?
Gosling and Stone are endlessly charming and effortlessly appealing to audiences. Add to that the fact that they’ve already shown some outstanding chemistry together in Crazy, Stupid Love and Gangster Squad, and this film is almost guaranteed to get butts into seats.
The film was recently bumped from its July release date which would normally spell trouble, but judging by the fact that it was moved to a December release could mean that it has some Oscar potential. And it’s not hard to see why.
