12 Oscar Winning Actors Who Starred In Awful Horror Movies
7. Philip Seymour Hoffman - <span Style="font-size: 15px;">My Boyfriend’s Back</span>
Before his actorly talents started getting recognition with roles in films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Almost Famous, Philip Seymour Hoffman scored himself a bit role in a rather terrible horror comedy called My Boyfriend’s Back about a high school kid who dies and comes back as a zombie to take his crush to the prom.
In a far cry from the kind of roles he’s more associated with now, Hoffman played the bully sidekick to future Lost star Matthew Fox’s jock character and ended up accidentally dispatching himself by whacking himself in the head with an axe.
Just over a decade later though, he was awarded Best Actor for his role as writer Truman Capote in the 2005 biographical drama Capote and would rack up a further three nominations for Best Supporting Actor before his untimely death in 2014.
My Boyfriend’s Back is also notable for featuring fellow future Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey in a slightly less meaty role than Hoffman as ‘Guy #2’.
