6. Richard Pryor - Superman III
When Superman III tried to rectify the issues caused for its predecessor by the firing of Richard Donner, they turned to an unexpected source. Rather than returning to what made Superman so good, the producers went for camp and silly and hired RIchard Pyror - of all people - to play the sort of villain.
His Gus Gorman isn't a bad character, per se, it's just that he's in entirely the wrong movie. His fans would have enjoyed him, but there's no getting around the fact that his inclusion is nothing short of baffling.
Less baffling is his reason for taking the job on, the comedy legend was quite open about the fact that he took the role because of the $4m he was paid, but he also subsequently admitted in his 1995 autobiography that he hated the script. He also complained that he spent most of his time on the waiting in his hotel for a call because the effects work took up so much time.
