12 Perfect Horror Movies With One Glaring Flaw
4. Carrie - It Hasn't Aged Well
Buoyed by Brian De Palma's fantastic direction, razor sharp storytelling and fantastic acting, Carrie is an achingly sad tragedy and one of the finest works in the history of the horror genre.
Unfortunately, it is also a film that has aged quite badly in certain ways, and that's not only because it feels very 1970s in look and feel.
In today's era, the film's depiction of bullying and high school cruelty feels incredibly outdated and borderline quaint in all honesty, and while the picture's famous ending jump scare was once terrifying, the many imitations have caused it to lose pretty much all of its potency in retrospect.
Therefore, as great as Carrie still is, some modern viewers might find parts of it a bit off.
The film was remade in 2013, and while that was a great opportunity to update the story, the remake, aside from adding smartphones, basically did the exact same thing in a rather disappointing manner (although the film is perfectly OK overall). A miniseries adaptation was rumoured a few years back; if that comes to fruition, hopefully they can do a more contemporary version of the tale.
