12 Predictions For "Upcoming" Sequels Ever Being Made

6. Indiana Jones 5

Though Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull seemed to open up some new doors for the franchise, Shia LaBeouf's vocal distaste for the movie pretty much killed plans for a quick turnaround on Indy 5.

Only in March 2016 was a fifth Indiana Jones film officially announced, with a release date set for July 2019, which would've made Harrison Ford 76 years old at the planned time of filming.

Current Status: Disney and Lucasfilm keep insisting that this movie is still happening, despite the release date being delayed to July 2020 and again recently to July 2021.

How Likely Is It?: The constant delays are nudging the film into the realm of development hell, and there's every possibility it could keep getting pushed back until, sadly, Ford either retires or passes away. As spry as Ford is, he'll be pushing 80 by the time shooting is scheduled to begin, which is just ridiculous.

Indy 5 possibly never coming to market is probably for the best, really, because it's either going to struggle to make Ford look physically credible, or he's going to take a dissatisfyingly passive role while training up a younger protege.

Still, don't underestimate Disney's penchant for chasing those nostalgia-driven franchise bucks. 4/10
