The end of the second Fantastic Beasts movie was one of the most divisive story developments of recent years. The key twist might have escalated the tension of the story and set up more drama in the conflict between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, but it came at a cost.

The reality is that the Wizarding World timeline is now in tatters and there’s no way to accept the logic of the new Dumbledore revelation without revising what we thought we knew about this universe.

But what if Grindelwald was lying to Credence? Could that be why JK Rowling ignored her own timeline?
