12 Reasons Movies Were Better When You Were Younger
8. Remakes & Reboots Weren't As Common
If you were born around the year 2000, then this one doesn't really apply to you, so sorry about that. For anyone else born in any era prior to this, the whole sordid culture of endless movie reboots and remakes simply wasn't as pronounced. Sure, the occasional remake was still whined about, but movie franchises weren't summarily restarted a few years after the fact when things didn't work: studios weren't quite so cheeky as to see what they could get away with back then. Nowadays, with so many defunct series being rehashed and remakes (quite probably of some of your favourite movies) abounding everywhere, it's hard not to get cynical about the film industry. After all, though less movies were being made in your youth, studios didn't seem quite so keen to exploit audiences, whereby today, the lack of truly original IPs makes it hard to argue that creative stagnation isn't setting in.
