2. Is Rise Of Skywalker Any Different From Return Of The Jedi?
One thing which has hurt the trilogy's reputation is that it ended on a disappointing note with Rise of Skywalker, but this criticism is ignoring the fact that the end to the Original Trilogy was also disappointing.
Return of the Jedi might've been your favourite when you were a kid but it's holding up worse and worse with every passing year. It's still good and it's better than Rise of Skywalker, but it's absolutely packed with flaws and the films are actually kind-of similar.
Since Han Solo suddenly becomes a complete wimp in this entry, it mishandles an important character arc just like Rise of Skywalker did with Finn. It has massive pacing issues; where Rise of Skywalker was rushed, Return of the Jedi is too slow and the long stretches on Endor are pretty tedious.
And just like Rise of Skywalker, it's filled with flawed writing and is an enormous step-down from the previous two movies as well as a huge tonal shift from the preceding instalment, which was much darker.
As for Revenge of the Sith, the Prequel's ending chapter, that movie is OK and as a trilogy ending it does just fine, but the writing in that is far worse than any of the writing in Rise of Skywalker.
The point is, all three Star Wars trilogies have a flawed final chapter and therefore the Sequel Trilogy is not unique in this regard. Speaking of the other films...
