12 Reasons Why Justice League Is Worse Than Batman V Superman
6. Joss Whedon's Reshoots Don't Gel With The Universe
The most damning thing about Justice League is that the reshot scenes under the direction of Joss Whedon are somehow worse than Zack Snyder's original material. The new director has focused on humour and character, and while big changes like finally turning Superman around to be closer to his comic-book counterpart are appreciated, everything else falls flat.
The cutaways to characters spouting one liners and giving witty retorts don't work, not only because they're more obnoxious than they are funny, but because they don't mesh at all with the world Snyder has created.
Batman is perhaps the worst for this, as he's forced to deliver every "joke" in the same gruff superhero voice he uses for the rest of the movie. It results in a strained delivery, and ironically leaves the character feeling even more devoid of personality than if he was just the straight-faced vigilante that he was in Batman v Superman.
You can see what Whedon was going for, attempting to inject more group banter into the narrative, but it feels completely incongruous with the other movies in the franchise.
