12 Recent Movies Better Reviewed Than Green Book

John Krasinski's sci-fi horror was one of 2018's most acclaimed genre films, though despite winning a surprise SAG award for Best Supporting Actress (Emily Blunt), A Quiet Place was nominated for just a single Oscar - Best Sound Editing.

You won't find many who honestly believe Green Book to be a better film - narratively, technically or performance-wise - so it basically just comes down to those arbitrary Academy prejudices about what constitutes an "Oscar movie."

But in a year where a, frankly, ridiculous, comic book film received a Best Picture nod, it seems odd to draw the line of exclusion at a deftly-crafted sci-fi film with aliens, no?

With A Quiet Place 2 set to release next year, perhaps the Academy will get a chance to correct their mistake in the near-future. Fingers crossed.
