12 Recent Trailers That Massively Outshone Their Movies

Build-up to the third installment of M. Night Shyamalan's anti-superhero trilogy probably didn't need a trailer to begin with. After Split, the stealth sequel to Unbreakable, the hype was unprecedented for Glass and we all waited in anticipation for the movie's release.

From the moment the Unbreakable theme starts playing through gentle piano keystrokes, our pulses are running. Abilities are established, the scenes are set and from what we saw in Unbreakable and Split, our assumption that a third film would be astounding was understandable. The meta logic Shyamalan applied to Unbreakable was sure to appear again in Glass, albeit more about the battle between two super-powered individuals.

Instead, the final film wasn't just underwhelming, but a real let-down in comparison to the trailers.

There are a number of problems with the film Glass - none more so than the marketing promising us a climactic battle between David Dunn and The Beast. A film about Mr. Glass would have been an opportunity for a glimpse into the title character's genius too. The trailers certainly hinted at it, at least.

Knowing Shyamalan, we expected a twist coming. But who would have thought the twist would be that the build-up was better than the actual movie?

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
