12 Saturn Award-Winning Performances Of The 2010s That Should've Been Oscar-Nominated

6. Mark Hamill - Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Patrick Stewart Logan
Lucasfilm

Over thirty years after he last played the role to any serious effect, and only two years after he was limited to just a quick cameo at the end of The Force Awakens, Luke Skywalker returned to action in the middle chapter of the Star Wars sequel trilogy - and in the process reframed the character against fan expectations with an interpretation far different from what many expected.

His more jaded, forlorn performance is still coloured with the occasional sparks of youthful exuberance that course through his veins during the original trilogy, but he inhabits the mantle of failed expectation far better than just about any other actor in the series.

Disney and Lucasfilm campaigned him but the film's late release date may have hampered his chances in an already crowded award season in the end.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
