Quite how the That '70s Show and Family Guy actress missed the Academy Awards for her supporting turn as a rival ballet dancer in this psychological thriller at the start of last decade remains anybody's guess. She actually picked up citations with the Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globes for her performance on the road to the ceremony.

Alas, the late-breaking success of True Grit meant that Hailee Steinfeld replaced her come Oscar nomination day; a strong performance that nonetheless meant Kunis went MIA for the big one. It's such a shame given Natalie Portman's subsequent win for the film - much of the leading star's dynamic comes teased out in part because of her castmate's wonderfully unpredictable turn.
