7. The River of Slime - Ghostbusters II

RiverOfSlime The sequel to the 1994 classic Ghostbusters finds the titular team of spook hunting heroes out of a job, having failed to convince the people of New York that they are the real deal - despite the events of the first film (which makes their unemployment somewhat confusing, to say the least). Dana Barrett - Peter Venkman's love interest from the first film - is working in an art museum where a painting of a ruthless seventeenth-century tyrant named Vigo the Carpathian. Amidst a series of supernatural events - including Dana's baby's pram moving seemingly of its own accord - it becomes apparent that the spirit of Vigo is residing inside the painting and wishes to live again by being reborn in to the body of Dana's son; Oscar. Upon investigating the area in which the pram moved of its own accord, the Ghostbusters find that directly beneath it lies a subterranean river of slime running directly towards the museum in which Dana works - and in which the painting of Vigo is situated. The slime causes people to act aggressively and causes a further flurry of supernatural occurrences as the ritual to reincarnate Vigo - which is to take place at the strike of the new year - approaches. Ultimately, the Ghostbusters use a positively charged sample of the slime to animate and control the Statue of Liberty (yeah, really), which brings the people of NYC together, allowing the Ghostbusters to attack the museum and disrupt the ritual and, ultimately, save the day. Again.
