12 Sci Fi Films That Will Melt Your Brain
10. The Thirteenth Floor
Gods of Egypt director Alex Proyas does deserve some acclaim for Dark City, his dark 1999 neo-noir future-set thriller which was thoroughly outshined by The Matrix upon release.
However, The Thirteenth Floor is that other 1999 neo-noir sci-fi thriller which gets even less love than both the Wachowski Sister’s most famous work and Dark City, and although it’s easy to see why mainstream acclaim missed this one, it’s a must-see for headf*** lovers.
This convoluted and confusing story takes in simulated realities, artificial humans, and alternate worlds during its intense runtime, and whilst you may not be able to follow it all, it’s no less effective for being a mite unclear about—well, almost everything.
