12 Sci-Fi Movies Plagued By Reshoots

1956's Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is sci-fi horror classic. So it's not surprising to learn that Hollywood have attempted to remake it several times, most recently with 2007's The Invasion.

Warner Bros hired director Oliver Hirschbiegel (of Downfall fame) and screenwriter David Kajganich to simply remake the film, but the pair decided to craft a more original story instead and filming wrapped toward the end of 2005.

Unfortunately, test audiences and the studio weren't impressed with Hirschbiegel's vision and the project was left in limbo, while The Wachowskis were hired to rework the script and V For Vendetta's James McTeigue was bought on board for reshoots.

A whole 13 months later, the reshoots took place, with around 70% of the film getting reshot and more action scenes getting shoehorned in.

The Invasion was finally released in August 2007 to terrible reviews, which panned the movies lack of originality. Maybe getting rid of Hirschbiegel and Kajganich wasn't the smartest move.

The additional filming increased the film's budget and in the end not even the star power of Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig could prevent the studio from taking a significant loss.
