11. Men In Black II - 39% Score
The sequel to the tongue-in-cheek Men In Black came with such high anticipation that at a first glance it is strange to imagine it as a failure.
Admittedly the second film is unnecessary (much like all the other MIB films), but when you look at the ingredients of this sequel, it's actually hitting on all the right notes. The two leads still share screen time, but the main story arc comes from Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) and the audience gets a pretty interesting origin and the reason for his return.
The sequel does lack some of the first film's charm, and the villains of Serleena and Scrad (played by Johnny Knoxville because Jackass was relevant in 2002) don't stand out as much as a cockroach-man, but the return of Frank the Pug, Jack Leebs and even the Worm Guys makes up for the dismal stuff.
Perhaps the films lack of originality is why it didn't sit so well with critics? But you can't deny that the MIB sequel hits some notes and if nothing else, a double-feature back-to-back of this film and it's predecessor wouldn't be received as poorly as future films.
