12 Sci-Fis With Bafflingly Low Rotten Tomatoes Scores

Michael Bay's Transformers franchise never had a chance of reaching critical acclaim; and the last two installments (featuring Mark Wahlberg) received such low scoring the franchise should be dead and buried by now.

But they make money so get ready for more.

While the first film is the only one to surpass 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, it's a weird surprise that the third film didn't do the same. Don't get me wrong! It's still a terrible movie, but being scored so low seems quite harsh.

DOTM has some legitimately good moments (Optimus Prime's beating Shockwave, the Decepticons assassinating humans to name a very short few), and while it is easier to just write off all the Transformer movies, after six live-action installments it would be fair to say DOTM could be looked back on fondly.

After Revenge of the Fallen deservedly scored poorly with critics, DOTM seemed to take some course correction with a much more coherent plot and character development. The Michael Bay problems of leering close-ups of women, nonsensical camera shots and explosions, and obscene humor still existed and maybe that's why it's so low? But on the whole, the third film was a step in the right direction.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
